Some of the excellent horses Native people acquired from the Spanish Conquistadors after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, including Navajos, are what they captured and what the Spanish left behind. Already adapted to the Southwest, these are the bloodlines that continue in many of today's Navajo horses.
